Things are going a little better with Lauren. She is eating more now, but it has taken a lot of work for her to trust us with her food. It has been very hard to get her to eat the 25-30 grams of butter at every meal. I put the butter in candy molds with food coloring and that helped for 1 or 2 meals. She is doing well at drinking the heavy cream. I mix it with water and raspberry extract and try to make it like "strawberry milk". She seems to like it--for now. Cooking and measuring all her food has taken up a lot of my time. I am hoping things will get easier with time and practice.
Today she had a lot of her energy back which is good-I think! She is asking for "normal" food and trying to get into everything. It is so hard when she does not understand why she can't have things. Her world has really changed.
Overall she is doing so good. She is starting to talk more, playing, and just be her old self. We are really seeing now how much the daily seizures and high levels of medications interfered with her life. Lauren has been off the medications since Saturday.
Today she has had no seizures. It is so amazing for us to see such a change. She has gone from having hundreds (too many to count) of seizures a day to none in a weeks time. We don't know if this will stay or if it will "correct" her abnormal EEG but we feel so blessed right now. We will enjoy every moment we get. We now need to work on her being a little too spoiled! She wants to be carried everywhere and she feels she should get whatever she want. I think we will just work on one thing at a time.
We can't express enough our appreciation for all the help, prayers, and fasting that everyone has done for us. I know that it has helped get us to this point.
Thank You! Tami
